The Great Makeup Bag Refresh
What I added, what I replaced, and why a good edit changes everything.
I treat my makeup bag like a living, breathing edit. It evolves with my skin, my schedule, the seasons and, if we are honest, my latest obsessions. A good upgrade is not about having more, it’s about having better tools that make getting ready feel effortless.
I recently did a little reshuffle and realised how much these small swaps change the whole experience. A new addition can bring back that spark when your routine feels a bit on autopilot. Suddenly you’re playing again, mixing, layering, trying a different placement.
My latest round of upgrades was also helped along by a trip to Miami. I have zero restraint when it comes to beauty shopping in the US. If it’s not easily available in the UK, it’s coming home with me. There is something about browsing in a different country that makes you see your makeup bag with fresh eyes.
For me, makeup is not just part of the job description. It’s still, and always will be, one of my greatest joys. The ritual of it, the transformation, the self expression, the quiet five minutes with a mirror and a good light.
Think of your makeup bag as prime real estate. If something is in there, it has earned its place. If it has not been used in months, it’s probably time for a swap. Edit ruthlessly, upgrade joyfully, and keep only what makes you excited to get ready.
