We’re back with another round of The Empty Bottle Diaries, my bi-monthly check-in on the products that made it to the finish line. If you’re new here, this is where I talk through the skincare, makeup and body bits I’ve actually used up, because an empty bottle says far more than a first impression ever could.

Now, a quick caveat: this batch is a little lighter than usual. I spent two weeks in China in October, and since I try to ravel like a pro (read: minimal liquids, maximum minis), most of what I used on that trip didn’t make it into the empties bag. Still, the few things that did run out over the past couple of months really earned their place. It’s very much a case of quality over quantity this time.

You’ll see a mix of everyday heroes and a few luxury indulgences I’ve fully drained. There’s a cleanser I’ve been loyal to for years because it just never lets me down. A couple of serums I reached for daily and have already reordered. A milky toner that saved my skin barrier over summer and still holds up in colder months.

I’ve said it before, but there’s something strangely satisfying about empties. It’s the quiet proof of consistency, of what you actually use versus what just looks good on your bathroom shelf. It’s the beauty equivalent of finishing a great book or burning through your favourite candle: a little melancholic, but also a sign that it did its job.
